Encouraging Sustainability Through Tech

New technology has come a long way in supporting environmental goals and mitigating climate change. From smart home systems to planned cities, some new tech devices really stand out for their ability to encourage environmentally friendly living and sustainability. These are four techs in sustainable development that encourage sustainability.

1. Hydraloop Water Recycling Unit

Winner of the Best of Innovation at CES 2020, the Hydraloop system brings sustainable technology to the household level. It recycles greywater, which you can use for flushing toilets, watering gardens, filling pools, or washing laundry. It also relies on six stages of filtration and purification to recycle up to 85% of household water. This innovative product also helps lower utility bills and sewage emissions as well as your carbon footprint.

2. Fisker Ocean Electric SUV

With a full-length solar roof and an extended range of 250 to 300 miles, the all-electric Ocean SUV from Fisker is a marvel of sustainability. In fact, Fisker claims it is the world’s most sustainable vehicle thanks to features like its vegan interior and recycled components, including its tires, upholstery, and carpeting. Production begins in late 2021, with flexible lease and purchase options for delivery in 2022.

3. HomeCool Air Conditioner

The HomeCool system, designed and produced by OxiCool, aims to bring clean, pure, and cool air to indoor spaces. Instead of using harmful chemical refrigerants, it relies on the four natural elements of fire, water, earth, and air. Propane or natural gas power the units, although solar technology is also in the works. The HomeCool system not only removes harmful chemical refrigerants, but it also reduces electric demand during summer months.

4. Toyota’s Woven City

Sustainable tech is taken to a whole new level in Toyota’s Woven City. Plans for this high-tech connected city were announced at CES 2020, with construction at the base of Japan’s Mount Fuji to begin in early 2021. Toyota will invite around 2,000 people to live within this compact city while researchers test and improve features of its fully-connected design.
You don’t have to look too far to find tech devices that can help you meet even the highest sustainability standards. These new projects give you a small glimpse of what is on the horizon.
